Job Description

We are working with our client, a leader in insurance and risk management, in locating an Instructional Design consultant to formalize and improve their training processes. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering a structured training program that leverages adult learning principles. This role requires a unique blend of instructional design expertise and facilitation skills to create engaging training materials and conduct workshops. The consultant will focus on urgent training needs while laying the groundwork for a comprehensive training strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development (60%)
    • Create a range of training materials including quick videos, microlearning modules, and quick reference guides (QRGs).
    • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather information and develop content.
    • Assess existing training materials to determine usability and areas for improvement.
  • Facilitation (30%)
    • Deliver instructor-led training (ILT) sessions tailored to various technology groups.
    • Ensure that training is interactive, engaging, and aligned with adult learning principles.
  • Administrative and Strategic Planning (10%)
    • Participate in strategy discussions to develop a long-term training infrastructure.
    • Assist in project management and documentation of training processes.
Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
  • Expertise across various technologies, with the ability to translate complex information into understandable training materials.
  • Proven experience in instructional design across multiple modalities (eLearning, ILT, blended).
  • Exceptional facilitation skills, with experience engaging diverse technical audiences.
  • Background in insurance or financial services is a plus, but not mandatory.
Tools and Technologies:
  • Proficiency in Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to work with existing content and develop new training resources using provided tools and licenses.
Communication Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with both L&D professionals and technical personnel.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic and potentially chaotic environments, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Deliverables:
  • Quick, reference-based courses/modules requiring minimal interaction.
  • Flexible training solutions that meet the immediate needs of the organization.
Tools and Requirements:
Required Tools: MS Office, Office365. Access to Figma will be provided.
Must use own laptop and tools (no additional licenses required).

Start: ASAP
Duration: 2 weeks from the start

Hours: part-time, flexible
Location: 100% Virtual 

The pay range is $60 to $70 per hour. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, relevant education, certifications and specific work location.
