Job Description

Project Overview:
Our client, a major university, is launching a new department to offer non-credit courses to businesses, individuals, and organizations, including professional certifications and customized corporate business programs. While an internal team exists, additional expert support is needed to meet a December launch deadline. They are seeking a trusted instructional design consultant to convert existing course content into high-quality, engaging eLearning modules.

The consultant will provide both instructional design and project management expertise, guiding content reduction, course design, and development while offering consultative recommendations to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead project scoping, pricing, and planning in collaboration with the internal team.
  • Review and condense existing content from 42 hours to 20 hours per course while maintaining instructional integrity.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify essential content and ensure alignment with learning objectives.
  • Design and develop engaging, interactive eLearning modules using Articulate Storyline and Rise.
  • Provide multiple solution options to support informed decision-making.
  • Support integration into the LMS (preferred, not required).
  • Utilize AI tools as appropriate to enhance course development.
  • Maintain open, consultative communication with stakeholders throughout the project.

  • Number of courses: 3
  • Course length: ~20 hours each (condensed from 42 hours)
  • Interactivity: Moderate to high, with consultant responsible for instructional decisions

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Strong project management experience in instructional design or eLearning initiatives, including pricing and scope management.
  • Expertise in Articulate Storyline and Rise.
  • Experience in higher education content preferred but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with SMEs and distill content effectively.
  • Consultative mindset: able to listen and offer multiple solution paths.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with LMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with corporate or professional development courses.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to optimize content creation.
  • Communication Style: Open, collaborative, consultative, and solution-oriented

Fixed fee project.

Excellent portfolio with relevant work samples required.
Start Date: October 2025
Duration: through December 2025
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: 100% Virtual

The pay range for this is $65.00 to $70.00 per hour on an independent contractor basis. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, relevant education, certifications and specific work location.
